INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON NEW TRENDS IN LANGUAGE STUDIES
(28-29 April 2023)
The Faculty of Foreign Languages, Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBU), will host The International Symposium on New Trends in Language Studies in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our Republic. In the symposium, language studies in the twenty-first century across the world will be extensively discussed. The rapidly changing world requires the review of existing practices and studies, and discussion of new trends and approaches in language studies. Accordingly, it is aimed to focus on how the purpose and content of language stand out in such fields as technological developments, international migration, tourism, health, literature, technology and education; and what effect language has in solving the emerging problems. The symposium will be hosted both onsite and online on 28-29 April 2023 in Ulus, Ankara, Türkiye. Our university bears the mission of contributing to the progress of science, society, and humanity through education, research, entrepreneurship and social responsibility activities in the field of social sciences, and the vision of leading the field of social sciences to improve as a research university. In light of this vision, the symposium welcomes studies that focus on and propose solutions to the problems on the following topics:
- The Role and Significance of the Turkish Language in the World
- New Approaches to Foreign Language Teaching
- New Trends in Translation Studies
- Translation Studies in Turkey and the World
- Language of the Digital World
- Language, Thought and Science
All papers submitted to the symposium will go through the evaluation of double-blind review. All the papers that have passed the referee process will be published in the abstract book. In addition, selected studies will be featured in the 2023 Special Issue of World Language Studies (https://wls.asbu.edu.tr/tr), the internationally indexed acdemic journal published by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Social Sciences University of Ankara, and also in the 2023 December Issue of Eurasian Journal of Language Teaching and Linguistic Studies (https://www.eajltls.com/index.php/home). Participation in the symposium is free of charge; and the symposium welcomes proposals prepared in Turkish and English.

The language of abstracts should be Turkish or English.
The format used for citing references is designated as APA (American Psychological Association). Submitted abstracts should not be less than 200 words and should not exceed 400 words. Below the abstract should consist of 3-6 words.
Application should be made through this portal by 24 March 2023.
Scientific methodology should be used in the applications.
Applications should be prepared in accordance with scientific and ethical rules.
