Standard-Setting for Measurement Tools

Cut-off scores are a ubiquitous feature in educational contexts, serving to ascertain whether examinees' performance meets the requisite criteria for academic progression or entry into specific departments at English Medium Instruction universities. In other instances, multiple cut-off scores may be employed to discern the optimal admission channel for learners through placement tests. Regardless of whether cut-off scores are determined by individuals or groups of experts utilizing sophisticated psychometric techniques, it should be recognized that there is no unequivocally correct cut-off score, but surprisingly enough, this is not what we observe. To this end, the proposed workshop endeavors to introduce various techniques commonly employed to set cut-off scores, and following this concise orientation, to offer hands-on activities that can be promptly implemented within educational contexts.
